This NEW manual is designed to prepare emergency responders to conduct advanced, technical, offensive operations at hazardous materials incidents.

All knowledge and skills technicians must know, from incident analysis to termination, are covered in depth. This includes hazmat chemistry; container identification, construction features and leak points; as well as product control and decontamination operations. Each chapter begins with a list of specific learning objectives and the correlating job performance requirements (JPRs) in NFPA 1072. The JPRs are indexed in Appendix A for students and instructors to locate the exact pages to locate the applicable content.

This new text also meets Technician Level requirements in OSHA Title 29 CFR 1910.120 (HAZWOPER). NFPA 472 is referenced where appropriate.

Photos, tables, and graphics help students master important concepts. Key terms and definitions are highlighted, and Cautions and Warnings emphasize critical safety information. Most chapters include Case Studies, Information Boxes, and other additional text to illustrate important lessons learned at actual events.
