This special issue of the German fire service monthly magazine "112" tells the story, with pictures and text, of the terrible fire at the Dusseldorf Airport.

On April 11, 1996 17 people lost their lifes and 72 people were seriously injured. In addition many more were slightly injured.

This was the most severe fire in Germany's post-war period. More than 2000 people had to be evacuated under difficult circumstances within the shortest posible time.
