Author Information:

Asst. Chief John J. O'Donoghue (Ret.) retired from the Cambridge, MA Fire Department in December of 2004 after 39 years of service. He is a member of the ASME A17.1/CSA B44 Safety Code for Elevators, Emergency Operations Committee. John sits on the Massachusetts Board of Elevator Regulations representing the Department of Fire Services.

Deputy Chief Theodore Lee Jarboe (Ret.) served the Montgomery County, MD Fire and Rescue Service for 40 years, retiring in 2003 at the rank of Fire/Rescue Deputy Chief. He has taught elevator rescue training in many locations throughout the United States for more than 25 years. Ted received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland at College Park, is a Certified Executive Fire Officer, and is a member of the Institution of Fire Engineers.
