Crime Scene Alibis, History Channel, 2003

What happens when the prime suspect in a case has an alibi? How do detectives extract the real story when the only eyewitness is the suspect, or when two people tell conflicting tales? Crime Scene Alibis turns to the case files to show how it works.

First, we'll track the convoluted tale of Kathy Hidgon, found murdered by her husband in their home. While the investigation soon focused on Julius McGriff, an ex-con who had worked for the Hidgons, he claimed that Paul had committed the crime. Paul's unconvincing testimony forced the police to turn to the physical clues for the ultimate answer.

Next, a suspect in a years-old rape disappears mysteriously, forcing police to turn to remnants from his trash in search of DNA evidence. But the results further complicate an already tricky case, and point to the limitations of relying too heavily on technical results.

50 minutes, closed-captioned, fully narrated, DVD only, DC9900/ $24.95
