East 40 & Prospect Ave. / 6-4-1999 / 2-2-2 Alarm. The back of this 100 year old house was fully involved upon arrival of firefighters. The fire quickly traveled to the loft area and burned through the roof. Because of the fires progression on arrival, a master stream attack was initiated.
East 49 & Scovill / 4-3-1999 / Box with Specials. A fire started in rubbish behind this house quickly communicated to the rear porch and up to the 2nd floor of this large 2 ½ story frame house. After an extended interior attack with several lines, the wind became a factor as it pushed the fire into the 2nd floor and loft area. Due to safety factors all firefighters were ordered out of the house and an exterior operation with master streams was initiated. A civilian was arrested at the scene when he admitted to burning trash behind the house.
