"The Blackout and the Late 70's"

This footage was taken by Sheldon Levy of Action News. It covers the blackout on 7-14-77 and other fire footage from the late 1970's.

You will witness a 5th alarm in Brooklyn at Stone Avenue and Truxton St., Box 977 and a fire at Morris and 183rd followed by more fire action at Parkside and Flatbush.

You will also see a clip of NYPD officers making arrests followed by a second alarm fire. Then go to July 20th, Brooklyn Box 793, a crayon plant at Lewis and Lexington which goes to a 3rd alarm.

From 1978 a fully involved Bronx public school goes to a 5th alarm. Another 5th alarm at a vacant piano factory, Manhattan Box 852, with major collapses on mail trucks parked on the street.

The John Harvey fire boat is in action at a fully involved house boat. Finally, a Manhattan fire from 1975 with numerous injuries.
