The Winchester Fire & Rescue Department (WRFD) is a combination system of both career staff and volunteers.

There are four stations - Friendship Fire Company Station 1, Rouss Fire Company Station 2, Shawnee Volunteer Fire Department Station 4, and the South End Fire Company Station 5.

The Sarah Zane Fire Company, Inc. (Fire Station 3) was organized in 1840 and later dissolved in the early 1980's.
