The Uxbridge Fire Department received the alarm for the fire at the three-story Bernat Mill building at 4:15 am on Saturday, July 21, 2007.

This 10+ alarm fire raged out of control for over twelve hours. Before is was over crews from over 40 Massachusetts and Rhode Island departments responded to battle the huge blaze.

The 400,000 square foot mill complex, built in the 1820’s, housed 65 small businesses. In keeping the fire from spreading to nearby homes nine firefighters received minor injuries.
