Waging War On Arson, A&E, 2007

In 1996, over 100,000 arsons were registered nationally; officials believe the true number of cases may be two or three times that amount. Chicago is taking a proactive step in fighting arson fires. The Chicago Fire Department's Office of Fire Investigations and The Chicago Police Department's Bomb and Arson Unit work side by side on the front lines of the city's war on arson. Working fire scenes, shoulder to shoulder, these investigators try to determine the cause and origin of every fire.

The Chicago system combines years of fire fighting experience with the investigative and interrogative skills of its police force, into a program that now registers convictions for arson at a rate double that of any other major city in America. This program takes viewers behind the scenes of arson investigations. We'll meet the men who try to piece together crime scenes devasted by fire, and we will relive some of their more memorable cases.

50 minutes, closed-captioned, fully narrated, DVD only, DW0200/ $24.95
