On July 8, 1966 Squad 7 was redesignated Engine 232 and moved from Manhattan to 107 Watkins Street, sharing the quarters with Engine 231, Ladder 120 and the 44th Battalion.

The competition was fierce between the two engines.

On the apparatus floor 232 was physically next to 231.

One day a professionally made sign appeared on 231: "ENGINE 231, SECOND TO NONE'. Not to be outdone a similar sign appeared the next day on 232: "NONE". (Ira Hoffman)
