FDNY Tales - What Is Your Location

FDNY Tales - What is Your Location?

Many years ago Division 12, with Deputy Chief Wallace, was on the air visiting companies as they did building inspections.

His aide asked the Brooklyn dispatcher to determine the location of Engine 248. "Rogers and Tilden Avenues" came the reply over the radio.

Chief Wallace looked up at the street signs and found they just happened to be at Rogers and Tilden Avenues.

With no engines in sight, he opted to go to the firehouse on Church Avenue, not far away. There sat the engine on the apron in front of quarters with only the MPO in sight.

It seems the Lieutenant on duty was in his office placing orders for transactions on the stock market.

While he endured the wrath of the Deputy, the Lieutenant did survive and went on to become a Battalion Chief. (John Delmhorst)
