FDNY "BOROUGH CALL" ( Circa 1960), Ahrens-Fox Video Library, 1997
Through the eyes, words and camera of the New York Fire Department, experience five alarm fires and Borough Calls.
A "Borough Call" is made whenever a fire is so large that help must be called from more than one of New Yorks five Boroughs.
This video covers the life of the fireman from his days as a "Probie" to battling such infernos as the Jamaica Lumber Yard (1955), Brooklyn Dock Explosion (1956), death of 6 Firemen in Loft Fire (1958), Airplane Crash over Brooklyn (1960), Aircraft Carrier Constellation (1960), and Public School No. 9 (1963).
Rounding out this exciting video are highlights of the 1947 FDNY extravaganza "The Midnight Alarm" held at Madison Square Garden.
