In a few months, the officers and members of Engine Co. 17, Ladder Co. 7 and District 7 will move to a new firehouse. The current firehouse was built in 1928 and located at 7 Parrish Street. The new quarters is next door but will have an address of 44 Winter Street. The area has always been called “The Hill” as the quarters are located on a dead-end street at the top of Meetinghouse Hill. First due response areas include neighborhoods in Dorchester and Roxbury.
Side #1 is the current firehouse as it looked when it was originally built. Side #2 is the new firehouse. One significant difference is that the new firehouse only has two apparatus doors on Winter Street. This is where Engine 17 and Ladder 7 will respond from. District 7 will respond from the side of the firehouse on Parrish Street.
