This standard provides comprehensive guidance and requirements for electrical inspection practices and inspector qualifications. The 2024 edition builds on the solid foundation provided by the first edition.  More specificity has been added to the requirements for electrical inspectors to remain current with the skills, knowledge and JPRs necessary to continue performing their job tasks proficiently and competently.

Other 2024 edition changes include:

• Definitions of electrical inspection and field inspection have been revised to include the modification of electrical systems as a type of activity for which inspections are performed.
• Chapter 4 has been modified to include new JPRs for the review of plans and for field inspections of communication systems to recognize the continued expansion of electrical infrastructure in buildings to support data and communications systems and the need to inspect these systems.
