The inaugural edition of NFPA 1550 consolidates three standards into one.

NFPA 1550, Standard for Emergency Responder Health and Safety, integrates NFPA 1500, Standard on Fire Department Occupational Safety, Health, and Wellness Program; NFPA 1521, Standard for Fire Department Safety Officer Professional Qualifications; and NFPA 1561, Standard on Emergency Services Incident Management System and Command Safety, into a single standard that addresses occupational safety and health programs for fire departments, fire rescue, fire suppression, emergency medical services, hazardous materials mitigation, special operations, and other emergency services.
