Help protect responders and communities by reducing risks and promoting overall health and wellness of fire departments.
NFPA 1580, Standard for Emergency Responder Occupational Health and Wellness, outlines minimum requirements for fire department infection control programs, occupational medical programs, and complete health-related fitness programs (HRFPs) for members of fire departments. This comprehensive document can help departments reduce risks and promote better health and safety among their staff and communities.
This standard was created to consolidate NFPA 1581, Standard on Fire Department Infection Control Program; NFPA 1582, Standard on Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program for Fire Departments; NFPA 1583, Standard on Health-Related Fitness Programs for Fire Department Members; and NFPA 1584, Standard on the Rehabilitation Process for Members During Emergency Operations and Training Exercises, into a single standard that establishes a common set of criteria for emergency responder occupational health.
