If you are responsible for building fire safety, there is no substitute for the 2025 edition, which features:

• Changes to Chapter 3, including revisions to damper definitions and a new definition for label service
• Changes to Chapter 4, including reorganization of requirements based on door types, new requirements for glazing in wood doors, new extracted requirements for classification of noncombustible, and revisions to clearance requirements
• Changes to Chapter 5, including the deletion of requirements for field labeling and new requirements for the inspection, testing, and maintenance of special-purpose, horizontally sliding accordion or folding doors
• Updates to Chapter 6, including new requirements pertaining to mitigating excessive clearances, new requirements for listing and labeling of door closing devices, and revisions to requirements for test standards for pivots
• New Chapter 17 added for horizontal fire door assemblies
• Changes to Chapter 20 (formerly Chapter 19), “Installation, Testing and Maintenance of Dampers,” including new requirements for operability, prevention of blockage, and replacement of dampers; visual inspection for dampers using remote inspection methods; and a performance-based design options for inspection, testing, and maintenance
• New requirements in Chapter 22 (formerly Chapter 21), “Fire Protective Curtain Assemblies,” for listing and labeling of automatic-closing devices
