Sacramento Metro Fire 2013

On December 1, 2000, 16 former fire agencies came together and formed the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District. This consolidation combined fire extinguishment, public education, search and rescue and more.

The highly skilled firefighters and support personnel serve nearly 640,000 citizens over a 417-square-mile area, serving Sacramento and Placer counties, the cities of Citrus Heights and Rancho Cordova.

The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District is the seventh-largest fire district in California with 42 strategically located fire stations.
