Raise fire protection levels by making sure foam chemicals for Class A fuels meet the latest criteria in the 2017 edition of NFPA 1150.

NFPA 1150: Standard on Foam Chemicals for Fires in Class A Fuels specifies acceptance requirements and test methods for fire-fighting foam chemicals that are used to control, suppress, or prevent fires in Class A fuels.

Chapters cover:

• Characteristics and acceptance requirements for foam concentrate, foam solution, foam, labeling and documentation
• Test methods, including requirements addressing exposure protection effectiveness; health, safety, and environmental considerations; physical properties; and corrosion and materials compatibility

For the 2017 edition, a new section has been created within Chapter 5, Types of Training Documents to provide requirements for alternate viscosity test methods for situations in which the viscosity is too low to obtain meaningful results. This important information will be useful for fire departments as well as manufacturers/producers of Class A foam products.
