Qualified airport fire fighters must rely on their knowledge and skills when responding to various airport incidents. A job-task analysis performed by the NFPA® Technical Committee for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications prompted revisions including:

• The timeframe for response and extinguishment of an aircraft fuel spoil fire is now up to the discretion of the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
• JPRs for wheeled extinguishers have been removed because this type of equipment is not normally used by initial fire emergency responders.
