This fire is a combination of brush and timber and is the largest wildland fire in recorded history to strike the Sierra Nevada Range and is the 3rd largest in California. The fire began on August 17th, 2013 is was active mid October 2013.

The first two weeks saw extreme fire behavior resulting in rapid fire spread and the loss of 112 structures.
