Fire Apparatus Journal Publications began publishing a series of books devoted to specific manufacturers of FDNY rigs. This book, the second in the series, covers all of FDNY's L-Model Mack rigs.

Included are hose wagons, open and closed cab pumpers, and rescue trucks. Many of these rigs were later converted. The book shows conversions to squad units, mobile power supply unit, foam apparatus, and Superpumper Satellite.

Included are registration numbers, unit assignments and roster. Although mostly black-and-white, a number of color photos appear of in-service rigs.
