FDNY Rescue Company 2, situated in Brooklyn, New York, commemorated its centennial anniversary in March 2025, marking a century of dedicated service to the community. The accompanying book chronicles significant events and the firefighters who have been part of the company since its inception in 1925. It includes detailed accounts of the various firehouses that have housed the unit, a comprehensive list of Unit Citations and Medals awarded to its members, tributes to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, and a special section honoring the tragic events of September 11, 2001. This section pays homage to the courageous individuals lost that day and recounts the company’s response and operations during the World Trade Center disaster. Additionally, the book features hundreds of photographs of firefighters and incidents they have attended, many of which have never been published before, captured by some of the nation’s leading fire photographers.

Jim Sandas, a retired firefighter from New York City who served with Rescue Company 2, has compiled the history of the unit for this centennial publication. Glenn Usdin, a photographer and editor, has curated the images and contributions from various firefighters and photographers featured in the book. Michael Meyer, an active firefighter with the FDNY, coordinated the planning and historical content for the 100th anniversary book of Rescue 2.
