From the Cadillac touring car in 1915 right through the current Ferrara apparatus, heavy rescues have served New York City continuously for the last hundred years.

The number of rescue companies in service has ranged from one to six.

A total of fifty different vehicles have served as apparatus for these rescue companies. All are shown, along with their assignments.
